Give Twice

This time of year is so wonderful! It's not that we are not always trying to fill the needs we see, but this time of year I think everyone is especially seeking opportunities to help where ever they can. About a month ago we joined Journey church in their support of Heart for Haiti and the Mission of Hope and donated 20% of sales.   Thank you so much to you guys who supported Tulips and our brothers and sisters.  We decided to auction off an autographed football with Billy Simms, Steve Owens and Jason White's signatures on it with 100% of the proceeds going to help build a much needed hospital in Haiti.
If you are starting to get your list together for Christmas it would make a perfect gift and not just for the guys on your list... I think my mom would love it as much as my husband and he's a BIG OU fan:-)
The bid is at $125 and you can call or email us to make a bid. We will stop bidding December 10, so you will have plenty of time to wrap it up!

A big thanks to the Owens family for donating the football!

What inspires you and your home? Where do you find the little idea that gets a big thing started?
When I am doing a room I usually start with a picture, a rug, a book or just about anything, but it's usually one thing that inspires an entire room for me.
I love new and different, but I find my style never centers around a trend usually. I incorporate trends always, but find my design usually anchored in something you might have seen in my family for generations. I want my home to beautifully modern with a comfort my great grandma would love.
Around Tulips you will usually find a ecclectic mix of age old tradion and the clean lines of contemporary design that speak to a new generation. The great thing is both these styles celebrate life beautifully in the same room.

This new painting by one of our favorite companies that does an amazing job of finding the most talented artists has inspired me all day!  I can't stop thinking about how many places these paintings could change the entire look of a room.

Being a kid:)

This week, we had the cutest little boy (and his beautiful big sister) visit Tulips!  He and his family come to Norman every year and his mom always stops by to shop.  Last year we had these awesome metal letters that you string lights through. I had purchased OU for the store and also had a T for my son's room.  I hadn't actually taken the T home yet, so when they were in she bought the U and the T!  Not exactly what this Sooner born and bred girl had in mind...hahaha!  But, the letters are SO cool and she used them outside in her Christmas display.   Below is a picture that she emailed.  Pretty fun!

This year when they stopped by her little boy fell in love with a giant bear at Tiny Tulips and really wanted it.  His mom told him if he got the bear that would be his only present for the trip.  They left and went to lunch and he couldn't stop thinking about it.  About an hour later he popped back in and bought his favorite bear!  It was SO cute to watch him carrying him down the street hugging him with the biggest smile on his face!  So precious!  It reminded me of the sweet joys of childhood and all the joy children bring to us adults!!!!

Thanks Johnny you made our day!!  We can't wait to see you again soon!

It's H O T at Tulips

It's funny how you can have so many different emotions about one thing.  This summer, that one thing for me has been the Sun.

The high here in Norman, OK was 98 degrees today (and it felt like 110).  That's HOT in anyone's book, but I guess it's summer and that's when it supposed to be HOT...right?  As uncomfortable as that kind of heat can make you, it also makes you appreciate a cool drink, a swimming pool, or a snow cone so much more.

On another note, my family and I just got back from a weekend trip to Santa Fe and though it was hot in the day, they have a little something we don't... a nice break in the evenings... man it felt good to have a chill... We were all sitting on the patio together one evening just relaxing and enjoying the sun set.  It is such a perfect painting every evening and you can never see the same sunset twice. I learned to love sunsets watching them with my dad growing up.  I will always cherish those peaceful, beautiful last minutes of the day. I think we have watched over 1,000 of them together.  No matter where in the world you are, it is comforting to know that even when you can't be together you can still see the same sun setting...

So while we have some great summer sunsets left, fill a pitcher with your favorite drink and call your favorite people to come over and enjoy the painting across your little piece of the sky.

Tulips isn't just a home store: it's a lifestyle

In 18 days Tulips will be starting the 8th year. Praise God! As I look back on the philosophy that created Tulips it's cool to see we have stayed true to the ideas, integrity and beauty of the products that make it to our floor... Like a great friend or your favorite movie, they just get better with time.

Tulips is a place where tradition never goes out of style, but we are always on the look out for something new to freshen up your favorites! check out this stoneware pewter bowl... it's stunning and so practical (oven, freezer, microwave, dishwasher dafe) talk about tradition meeting fabulous... for more amzing pieces to make your everyday beautiful

what is our philosophy? help you transform all those little things you have to do everyday to an expression of your personal style.

Daily routine....morning O.J.

Since I got this jar to keep my juice cold and fresh (only$22)  I have loved waking up to it in the fridge. These adorable mix and match glasses are my new favorite. The carrier is awesome for serving and just setting out. I love having water in a pretty glass, just makes meals a little more special...

Tulips isn't just a home store: it's a source to help transform your daily routine...When creating a home, there's a lot to take into account... and we want to help--not by offering everything that is out there, but by offering the best of everything out there.

We want to be your source to find your best friend the perfect birthday gift. Your source for a perfect frame for the cutest picture you have ever seen, a source for beautiful glasses to toast a special moment, a great day at work, a special marraige or your little one that just slept through the night!

We put our heart and soul into bringing only the best to you. You can trust us to do the homework, so you don't have to! (more on this to come)
